Here's some of those animals I've been promising!

Thursday (Feb. 17) I went with the International Student trip to Caversham Wildlife Park to meet some real Aussie animals!

IT WAS AWESOME.

Here are pics to prove it:



That is me being dorky because I'M STANDING NEXT TO A KANGAROO. THAT I'VE JUST BEEN PETTING. :D



That is my hand feeding the kangaroo! It was really slobbery....

Their paws are really incredible!

BEBEH KANGAROO

That's an adult wallaby, with a joey (young kangaroo) in the backround. Notice the wallabys more mousy face.

That is me petting a koala.
(All I could think about was that one episode of the Simpsons where they visit the zoo at night........ D:)

Koalas have a toe with two nails, ie, a literally built-in comb. They also have two thumbs!

The koalas woke up just as we were leaving! They sleep for 20 hours a day, but their awake hours are interspersed, 20-minute long periods (so kinda like Emil's polyphasic, only in reverse :P)

There was also a farm show to showcase especially Western Australia's history of sheep ranching and farming. They taught people how to shear a sheep, how to crack a whip, how the dogs herd sheep, and how to milk a cow, but this was the best part:



It was a contest for whose lamb finished off the bottles first! SO cute. ^_^

We also went to a chocolate factory after that! And got free samples! Best idea ever. One of the ladies even went into the back to bring out some Cherry Ripe for me to try, seeing as we don't have that in America. It was basically cherry mixed with coconut and covered in dark chocolate (so a little bit like an almond joy or mound). It was delicious. I cannot wait to go back and get a case or fourty.
